Theater students at NWMSU have put together a show that is out of this world

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The honorary theatre fraternity on the Northwest Missouri State University campus, Alpha Psi Omega, has created a short original play for children in the area.

Senior Cait Redman said their show, titled “Space Cadet Callie,” is not only an entertaining performance, but also one that shares a message about anti-bullying.

“It’s about two astronauts who find out there’s a rumbling in space, and they go out to find out what it is and it turns out that Pluto has been crying because he’s being bullied about not being a real planet since he’s too small. So it’s a story about coming to terms with how it’s never OK to bully someone,” said Redman.

The Northwest students will take their show to multiple regional schools during the university's winter break. The students will present their show Sunday, December 15th, in the Studio Theatre at the Ron Houston Center for Performing Arts.

Admission is $3 or two canned goods for donation to the Bearcat Food Pantry. Children under the age of two will be admitted for free. The show starts at 6:30 p.m. and lasts about 30 minutes.
